Chevron Parquet Flooring London
Similar in size to our herringbone parquet, our chevron flooring is ever increasing in popularity for both commercial and residential projects. The chevron design dates back to the 16th century where it was known as “point de Hongrie” or Hungarian herringbone. Chevron parquet became popular as a floor as early as the 17th century. The classic chevron design has a distinctive V shape with clean lines that has stood the test of time.
At Cheville Parquet all of our flooring designs are stocked unfinished, this gives our clients almost unlimited possibilities in finishing options. The chevrons are in a select grade of oak that is brushed to open the grain; enhancing the appearance. We can finish the chevrons using durable hardwax oil or lacquer in any of our 130+ standard shades. This makes for a beautiful natural looking floor needing minimal maintenance that will look great for years to come. We can also undertake bespoke finishing and colour matching options. The chevrons can be distressed to give an aged look; this process is done by hand so each individual chevron is unique in its appearance. To further the design options we can incorporate 70mm stripping between each chevron, the strips can be finished in the same shade as the chevrons or we can incorporate any of our unique metal or slate range to give a truly bespoke floor. Our chevrons floors are finished at our factory in Leeds and on average our lead time is three to four weeks. As with all our floors, they are suitable for both residential and commercial use. For restaurants, bars and hotels, we can apply a additional waterproofing layer for extra protection if required. On
The chevron parquet dimensions are 125mm x 485mm x 18mm thick (4mm wear layer) with a 45° angle of cut. The chevrons are made from an engineered construction with a heavy weight plywood core; this means they are suitable for use with underfloor heating. The chevrons are tongue and grooved on all four sides for easy and stable fitting. We would recommend installing using the stuck down method with an adhesive such as the Bona Kemi 848. For residential use, the chevrons can also be installed using a floating ` method over a suitable hard rubber and fibre underlay. The blocks are bonded together with a PVA adhesive. In both cases the subfloors should be dry, smooth and level to avoid any gapping at the joints.
Our chevrons are FSC® certified oak and as a company Cheville Parquet is focused on using sustainable sources of oak in the manufacture of all of our flooring.
